Quick…

“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.” James‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This is easy to say but harder to do. I am travelling through Denmark with two friends. Yesterday I was driving and one friend, a guy, was in front with me and barking at me for driving too close to the right verge of the road. I told him to be quiet in a commanding tone as he was being bossy and not giving me space. He backed off.

My challenge is always to not take the behaviour of others to heart. Again when we stopped for lunch he was off about the cost of the food and I replied I was tired and hungry and was going to buy food. Eventually he did also. So as not to ruin the day I took my heart in hand. As a result we managed to have a good afternoon and evening.

One  of my friends is gluten intolerant and we have to manage our choices based on her diet requirements. I found a restaurant that I thought would be helpful but she found that most of the food was not suitable. She approached the cook and asked what he could do. He provided her with fried rice.

My two friends booked our accomodation and it turned out we were all stuffed in the one room. This is our situation for four more days. We will need the grace of God to survive the time. I know I must cling to the Lord and allow Him to rule my heart.

Perhaps we can pray together! That would be a good start!

Power to live a godly life

“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.” 2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Do you ever think, ‘I can’t be good today!’ ‘I don’t have the power to beat this temptation!’ Then you are wrong as Peter tells us above. We have His divine power to overcome. You might say, ‘But I don’t feel any different! So, since when does how you feel dictate the powers ability to help. If you believe you have it and step into it, you have it! For the longest time I have had a battle with a particular temptation and most times lost, because I tried to beat the feeling. However, I’ve discovered the battle is in my mind not my flesh. There have been many books written about the mind being the battlefield. Joyce Meyer wrote a good one: Battlefield of the Mind. No surrender to fear

““Don’t worry or surrender to your fear. For you’ve believed in God, now trust and believe in me also.” ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬ ‭TPT‬‬ Yesterday tens of thousands of youth stormed Parliament House here in Nepal. It has been reported that 20 were killed and hundreds were injured. I had stayed away from the area believing it to be unsafe and it was. Today, now that young people have been killed, there will be a greater strife brought about by parents of those who went to the protest. Milling children is never a good idea. Nepal has had a long history of strife. It has a civil war that lasted 10 years not so long back. Corruption fills the government and the people are not happy. However, underneath there are lovely human beings who need salvation. As in any race of people, there are people who have needs. I cannot be afraid of the uprest. I have a God who is the master of peace. He is good! I must trust Him. Amen!
