Where is Help When You Need it?
Ephesians 6:10 (MSG) And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong.
As part of my holiday mode I read more. At present I am reading a book called 'Partnership'. It is about the relationship between Howard and Bush during the years after Sept 11 and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq.
The author shows how highly the Australian SAS soldiers were thought of, how excellent they were in war and the high regard the US now has for them.
The reputation did not come without a stand. The Aussie commanders had to stand their ground and in the process earn the ire of several American leaders who, by the end, respected them.
Training, hard training and hard fighting, learning to survive on next to nothing in the harshest of climates. They did not rely only on brute force, but were, and still are, lean killing machines.
Christianity is like that, or it is supposed to be, yes, even on Christmas day. We cannot afford to be soft with a multitude of fleshly weaknesses. This life is not about us and if we give up our life we find it.
I have a friend who was dreading Christmas because her family did not seem to be considering her and her work in their plans. We wrestled with correct perspective and she has informed me she has had a great time.
When God says His ways are higher than ours and His thoughts are higher than ours, He is telling us a fact. We think a certain way but it leads to selfishness, usually, and a resultant bad time.
Yesterday I had $25 to buy groceries with and no holiday pay for my next week. I was sorely tempted to whine. When I arrived home from spending my $25 I received a speeding fine, I apparently was travelling 57 in a 50 zone. This was on top of a lean shop. Yes I did cry but I pulled myself together and wrote to the people who sent it and then left it.
Last night I slept at my sons house so I could wake with the grandchildren for Christmas, I refused to talk about my circumstances. I helped assemble the trampoline, we laughed and joked a lot, it was fun. Today was really good and best of all my daughter-in-law found it stress free. Praise God!
My son and I got to talking and he handed me money with the offer of as much as I need. However I did not feel a victim because I did not act a victim and as a result was blessed.
Where does help come from? 'My help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.'
