Cornerstone

1 Peter 2:4-5 (MSG)  Welcome to the living Stone, the source of life. The workmen took one look and threw it out; God set it in the place of honor.  Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary vibrant with life, in which you'll serve as holy priests offering Christ-approved lives up to God.

What do these scriptures tell me? We throw out what God chooses to make the anchor. When will we get it? We are not in charge.

When we give our hearts to the Lord we are choosing Him as the cornerstone in our lives. If I go to the car yard and choose a little red Mazda then I have chosen that car to be my car. when I go out in the morning to go to work I cannot then go and get into someone else's car and drive off.

Why is it so hard to realise that asking Jesus into our lives is something momentous. We ask the King of the universe to be our saviour. It is no light thing. We have taken the King of Kings and the cornerstone in the spiritual building of our lives.

We cannot then go and remove Him from our building the next day. As married people, who have been married for a few months cannot just turn around and say I have had enough now, I want to be single again. There is a ripping, a tearing in our lives, we will suffer as if a huge piece of our flesh is ripped out of our side, we bleed.

Taking Christ into our lives requires us to find the right stones to build our spiritual house with. I cannot build with pornography, lust, greed, lies, arrogance,adultery. These materials do not mesh with the Cornerstone, they have different structures. When the storms come the whole thing will crash.

What is the result off foolish living? We crash and burn. Sure it might 'feel good' for a while because we are living for the lusts of our flesh. Just because we 'feel good' does not mean we are right with God.

Oh foolish Christians, get it right. The world is longing for the revealing of the 'sons of God', do not be deceived. Your children and grandchildren are looking, waiting to see you get it right.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
