Wind Words
Revelation 2:7 (MSG) "Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. I'm about to call each conqueror to dinner. I'm spreading a banquet of Tree-of-Life fruit, a supper plucked from God's orchard."
John was given a message for seven churches and at the end of their individual message they received the above challenge about listening.
Even those church who were doing well in most areas there was one major problem, some tolerance of sin.
The Lord does not tolerate sin and neither should we. As we become fat we can also become lazy or deaf to the Holy Spirit, he whispers, just like the gentle breeze.
If we have a diet of pleasure base on worldly movies for example then we eat the truth of adultery, greed and selfishness. Do we tolerate these things?
I am constantly aware that I have to fight to hear because there is so much noise. What am I doing to keep my ears open?
Yesterday I had a friend tell me how they had gone to stay with family in a motel and did not declare that they were spending the night so as to avoid payment, they had a most uncomfortable night and I said to them 'You are being deceptive'. The answer I received was 'But I paid for dinner'.
How many of us would do the same thing? Probably lots. Yet if we are the innkeeper and need to make money what would we say?
This makes me aware of the things I do and justify. Just because I can justify my behaviour does not make it right, perhaps I need an ear wash, and a heart wash. Amen!
