Being Filled

But be filled with the spirit, speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ. Ephesians 5: 18-21

All of the above commands: be filled; speak to one another; singing and making music; giving thanks; submitting to one another, all sound like the results of a heart overflowing with bubbles of joy, gladness and love.

It is like a commercial for the Holy Spirit for without Him we cannot do it, we must be filled. Daily we must come to Him for refreshing inflow.

It reminds me of my first experience with the Lord in salvation. I was so happy to be found by Him I bubbled to overflowing, faith filled my heart, nothing was impossible.

Giving thanks always for everything helps, a grateful heart does good like a medicine, gratitude defies the robber, his effect cannot be felt by a grateful heart, God is good.

Submission to one another in love is possible as we yield to Him, and impossible without Him. I must allow the Lord to be the gateway through which I go and all will be well.

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
