Go Fishing
Therefore be imitators of God, as dearly loved children. And walk in love, as the Messiah also loved us and gave Himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God. Ephesians 5:1,2
Here is the blueprint of behaviour. Be imitators of God as dearly loved children. All of us who have children see them begin to want to play adult. Little girls want to dress up and little boys want to fix things (forever) and mow the grass. Why do they do this? It is in them to do this. Love from parents as role models helps.
Children have a lot of time with their friends when they play at being children, being silly and imaginative yet they have their moments when they just want to be you. My eldest grand daughter would come to me every Friday and she would head straight for my shoes and makeup (she was 3 at the time). When my grandsons visit they want to work in my garden.
The next verse hits right at the core of a Christian's life. And walk in love just as Christ did, He gave up His life for us. Ah so that is what love looks like!
The God kind of love is sacrificial, it looks outside itself and loves. Our God is secure in who He is and His gaze is out to those who are not secure. 'Come to me', He says 'and I will make you fishers of men.' Only secure people can look out, we have to be at peace with who we are and Christ does this for us if we take our view of ourselves from Him and not the media.
We have so many opportunities to fish. There are souls everywhere, flopping around on the beach, we don't even have to cast a line, they are there losing their life's breath.
Salvation belong to our God it is His commodity and He freely gives it to us so we can fish. It is something that goes on and on and on into perpetuity, it is a stream of life.
Get up and dare to believe you are loved and step out with your fishing basket, catch the fish. Amen!
