Walk Worthy
Therefore I, the prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk worthy of the calling you have received, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, accepting one another in love, diligently keeping the unity of the Spirit with the peace that binds us. Ephesians 4:1-3
I had to read this several times as we now move from what God has done for us to what we should be doing. The language is almost foreign to us. Humility, patience and gentleness, us? Diligently keeping the unity of the Spirit? Huh?
There is no way we can do this by trying because we will fail. So how do we do it? Mmm perhaps walk in the spirit. Romans tells us that the 'law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death'. 8:2
How do I walk in the spirit? Surrender helps!
Live a life worthy of your calling. In the movie 'Ever After' the prince does not want to be king because of the demands it will place on him and is remonstrated with by Danielle who sees it as a marvelous opportunity to do good.
Do we want to be sons and daughters of The King of Kings? There are demands placed upon us. We cannot live for ourselves but for Him. We are called, separated apart to serve Him. We cannot romp through life pleasing our carnal desires and appetites when He has a cause He wants us to fight for.
As we surrender to Him and daily comes to Him in surrender, as Jesus did, 'not my will but yours Lord', we will be filled with grace and humility to walk the walk and talk the talk of the Kingdom of God.
Apart form the power present in the Spirit of God I cannot walk in patience and the unity of the Spirit with peace.
However through Him I can do all things. Amen!
