Dreams and Prophesy

After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying "get up! Take the child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you for Herod is about to search for the child to destroy Him". So he got up, took the child and His mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt. He stayed there Herod's death, so that what spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: Out of Egypt I called my Son.' Matthew 2:13-15

How inconvenient! Not only did Joseph have to take Mary with child to Bethlehem and have Jesus born in a manger, now he has to close down his business, pack up and go to a strange land and stay there for an undetermined amount of time.

We are not told how long they stayed in Egypt but again the angel of the Lord came to Joseph and told him to return to Israel after Herod's death. Going back Joseph discoverers that Herod's son is ruling and he is not a great guy either so he goes to Nazareth in Galilee, another strange place and begins again.

We can expect that now Christ has come into our lives that things would go smoothly but they don't, in fact times of trial come our way.

Even when prophecy is involved life is tough, Jesus was being pursued by a madman. He was meant to be the saviour of the world and He was on the run.

If Christ had it tough so can we. I remember having a prophecy over my life in my late twenties that I would minister to women. It took a while for that to come around and if I look at the ministering I have done so far it is not huge, up on stage stuff, it is one on one walking beside stuff.

At the end of 2004 I had another prophesy that I was in for the ride of my life. I have had moments of this but a lot of pain and fighting for what is mine in the process. Prophesy comes when we need to look forward, it encourages us.

I am not too keen to have someone prophesy over me because I know I am in for a time of testing and formation. My insides cry out "No! No more Lord!" But I know in my heart of hearts I will go where He goes and I will follow Him.
