Effective Prayer

 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray......The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will restore him to health; if he has committed sins he will be forgiven.......the urgent request of a righteous person is powerful in effect. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours; yet he prayer earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did no rain on the land. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain...James 5:13-18

Yesterday I spent 8 hours with a friend who is in extreme pain, I knew I powerless to relieve him of the pain, nothing he took relieved the pain.

I read in Matthew 4:24 how the people from Syria brought the sick and those who were in extreme pain and He healed them all, I read this to my friend. Yet the pain intensified.

At 7pm I turned on my friends computer and watched Pastor Phil Pringle preaching on effective prayer. I knew what the problem was. Me and all those around this man are failing to reach the level of effective prayer.

I think of all the areas in my world where I see injury and disability and know I need to see breakthrough in prayer.

What does it take? Dedication! Dedication to seeking God and finding Him in a way I have never found Him before.

'I ask You Lord to wash me of all that stands in the way, cleanse me of all that hinders my prayer being effective'.

I have known effective prayer, my God has used me many times to break through yet here I am impotent and I don't like it.

'Lord I ask for Your power and the fruit of righteousness.'

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
