Forgivness

For if you forgive people their wrongdoing your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. But if you do not forgive people, your Father will not forgive your wrongdoing. Matthew 6:14,15
How interesting that these are the very next verses after the Lord's prayer. Is Jesus saying that the prayer is all about forgiveness? Is that the focus? I thought God was the focus.
In DivorceCare I have seen what unforgiveness can do. It makes you sick. People I know have contracted  cancer, I've had bone issues. Hanging onto the hurt and bitterness is not good.

How does this work? If I do not forgive or get past the hurt the God can't forgive me. I am left to fellowship the muck and it festers in me producing it's rotten fruit.
What does forgiveness look like? A total letting go of; bless, release, forgive. Forgiveness protects me, keeps me in relationship, covers me.
We will have lots of opportunities either to return to the vomit or walk on. People will come along and start talking to us and before we know it we are back there in the offense. I have to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to take me past that place and He will. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
