Hearing and Doing

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the river rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn't collapse, because it's foundation was on the rock.
But everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn't act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rains fell, the river rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. and it's collapse was great." Matthew 7:24-27

It behoves us to look at what constitutes a sensible man therefore. These are:
  • The poor in spirit are blessed, the mourners are blessed, the gentle are blessed, those who hinder and thirst for righteousness are blessed, the merciful are blessed, the pure in heart are blessed, the peacemakers are blessed, the persecuted are blessed, the insulted are blessed. In others words in all things, I am blessed.
  • I am salt and need to stay salty
  • I am light and need to shine
  • The law is still important, it is fulfilled in Jesus
  • Avoiding actually killing someone is not enough I can't hate or be angry
  • Avoiding the physical act of adultery  is not enough I must keep my mind from it
  • Divorce for anything other than adultery causes the other party to sin
  • Don't swear an oath, let your Yes be a Yes that is enough
  • Do not resist the evil one, seek restitution, vengeance belongs to God
  • Love your enemies and pray for them
  • When you give do it in secret don't make a loud noise of it
  • When you pray go into your quiet place and connect with your Father, don't strut where people will see you
  • When you fast keep it to yourself
  • Don't base your life on the collection of stuff that will rot or be stolen, build heavenly treasures
  • Don't be anxious about your life, seek first the kingdom and God's righteousness and He will add everything else
  • Don't judge so that you won't be judged in return
  • Keep on asking, searching, knocking and you will find the Lord
  • Enter the Kingdom through the narrow gate because that is the way of life
  • Beware of false prophets and teachers don't be taken in by their noise, look for their fruit
  • Build your house on a solid foundation, all of this and you will stand and not fall.
This all speaks to the heart of us, everything issues out of the heart. When the storms come I must go to these and apply them to me life.

When I suffer, am abused, treated badly Go to the rock.
When I am tempted, Go to the rock
When I pray and fast, Go to the rock
When I give, Go to the rock
When I face no answers, Go to the rock
When I see everyone around me fall, Go to the rock
When I struggle with my attitude, Go to the rock
If I find Him and His ways I find life. Amen!

Know Your Sword!

So he took Him to Jerusalem, had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "if you are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: 'He will give His angels orders concerning You, to protect you, they will support You with their hands, so that you will not strike Your foot against a stone.' Luke 4:9-11 In this third test Satan quoted scripture but Jesus knew His scripture and was not going to be deceived by his enemy twisting the truth. I am amazed at what Satan tempted Jesus with. He did not know Christ. He had succeeded in tempting the first Adam yet he was thwarted in this attempt. Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
