Judgement
"Do not judge, so that you won't be judged. For with the judgement you use, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye but don't notice the log in your own eye? Or can you say to your brother 'let me take the speck out of your eye', and look there is a log in your eye? Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. Don't give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them with their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces. Matthew 7:1-4
Isn't it interesting how scripture is connected. In the above passage suddenly verse 4, which seems out of context with the preceding verses is upon us. It makes us ponder. What was Jesus talking about here?
Have you been around a critical person? Do you want to hurry away from their presence? A person with a critical spirit spews forth their nasty opinions quite freely. You will either be caught up in it or be subject to it's diatribe. Either which way it leaves you feeling awful. A critical spirit judges everything and every one according to a self-righteous standard, it raises itself up and acts superior.
When distress comes into the world of the critical spirit it becomes enraged and looks for a cause, someone to blame and blame they do. Yet the person who has the critical spirit does not realise that by maintaining that spirit in their lives allows that spirit to open the door to all sorts of nastiest, including ill health.
When we maintain a wrong spirit we throw away what is precious, we give it to the dogs to tear apart or to the pigs to trample. What is precious is the essence of the truth that Christ brings, it's freedom. Christ is a package, we cannot take Him and maintain a sinful, critical, judgmental attitude. When we maintain sin we throw away what is truly important.
Christ offers a loving relationship. When we accept Christ we accept all that He is. All means ALL. Today choose life! Amen!
