Obedience
After Jesus was baptised, He went up immediately from the water. The heavens suddenly opened for Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on Him. And there came a voice from heaven: "This is my beloved Son, I take delight in Him". Matthew 3:16-17
In the previous verse Jesus had said to John that He must be baptised to fulfill all righteousness and now after the act of obedience not only does the Father show up but so does the Holy Spirit.
Obedience in all it's lack of glory and seemilgly unimportance brings great reward. Jesus had not yet begun His ministry yet He already receives a 'well done'. The Father chooses to recognise His Son publicly. Obviously in all the unseen years Jesus was delighting His Father.
What is done in the unseen, preparatory years is most important or the public recognition never comes. We might have to wait until heaven but it will come. Jesus said he who confesses me before men I will confess before men but he who denounces me before men I will denounce (my version).
Are you struggling with obedience? Is everyone around you compromising their integrity? Look right down the tunnel of time, what do you see when you are face to face with Your Lord? Do you hear well done or like Adam will you want to hide?
As I have walked through my life I have found myself in compromise because my flesh wanted something. I had to ask the Lord to take me past that thing and faithfully He did, He is so willingly, if I am determined.
Give it to Him and He will sustain you! Amen!
