The Test
Again the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. And he said to Him, "I will give you all these things if You will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus told him, "Go away, Satan! For it is written:
'Worship the Lord your God, and serve only Him'."
Then the devil left Him and immediately angels came and began to serve Him. Matthew 4:8-11
I remember Benny Hinn saying that the devil is stupid. I think that the above passage show us he is. Imagine thinking that Jesus would bow down and worship him, knowing who he is and how has fallen.
However, satan would have to know where Jesus stood and basically that is what temptation is all about. He comes along with something he thinks might interest us, he is a salesman. He knew Jesus was the Son of God, but he also knew, for some reason, Jesus had come to earth. Satan did not understand the cross or the power of the sacrifice Jesus was about to make.
The temptation allowed Jesus to really see and show that He was not going to take what was His by birth but would wait to be given it.
My bible is full of those who did not wait and in taking what was promised, instead of waiting, they destroyed lives. Someone had to put things right. Jesus did!
Prophesy alone does not make something right, the fulfilment of time, God's timing makes a thing right.
I am constantly hearing the Lord say, "Look at me". I know what has been promised but I am not ready for that promise yet. I have to walk the path of being made ready and not become impatient. When the right time comes the result will be glorious.
After Jesus was tempted and the devil left, immediately the angels came and ministered to Him. They were waiting for Him to pass the test.
Don't send away the promise because of wrong choices and disappointment. I wonder how many promises go back to heaven?
Stand firm!
