Testing
The Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After He had fasted 40 days and nights, He was hungry. Then the tempter approached Him and said......Matthew 4:1-3
Jesus had just had a glorious baptism where His Father and the Holy Spirit showed up and the first thing the Holy Spirit led Him to do was to pray and fast and then the tempter came.
How many times have we been singled out by the Lord and He has spoken over us, filling us with enthusiasm and hope? Then the desire to press into God comes then it all goes pear shaped. This might just be a pattern.
Remember the word has to be tested. We have to know if we will accept the mantle of the Lord or just like the sound of it.
If we do not have room for the word of God in our lives but want the outcome we have to be made ready. If we have to go to a higher level to see the word come true then that is where we must go.
The Lord said dirty and clean water don't both come out of a pump at the same time, one has to go. So we need surgery!
It wasn't enough that Jesus had prayed and fasted, He needed to know that He knew what was right. Same for us!
We need to know that we know who we are and where we stand so that we cannot be in the heat of battle and turn and run.
If it is good for the goose it is good for the gander. Crude I know but you get my drift? Amen!
