Walk in the Spirit
When He, Jesus, heard that John had been arrested, He withdrew into Galilee, He left Nazareth behind and went to live in Capernaum by the sea, in the region of Zebulin and Naphtali. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, along the sea road, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles! The people who live in darkness have seen a great light, and those living in the shadowland of death, light has dawned. Matthew 4:12-16
I had always thought that because the scripture above says 'Jesus withdrew' that He left where the heat was but in fact the words written do not mean that. It means He left the safety of Nazareth and went into Galilee, where the danger was greater.
Galilee was predominantly full of Gentiles, and so Jesus went to the Gentiles as the prophesy indicated He would.
Jesus came to fulfil certain prophesy. The Jews had focused on other prophesy about the returning King and expected a deliverer from Roman occupation. The deliverance Jesus was come to bring was far more important.
Today many look to Christ to deliver them from hardship, oppression, poverty but when He said I have come that you might have an abundant life He was not necessarily referring to just cash.
An abundant life is one that is fulfilled in completing the task given by God, it is fulfilled when we 'live in the zone' as Ps Phil Pringle would say. Living in the zone or walking in the Spirit is a state that keeps you from the world and as you focus on the King He uses all to bring about His purpose.
The world of the Spirit is one devoted to the Kingdom of God and His way of doing and being not a lazy, glutinous life.
Live in the zone! Amen!
