The Word

Then the tempter approached Him and said, "If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." But Jesus answered, "it is written: Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Matthew 4:3,4

As I read the above I am like an observer in the stadium of life clapping Jesus on. It is better than a quiz show. With each answer Jesus gains a prize, authority to rule. Authority over the works of darkness.

I am now in that stadium and a great cloud of witnesses, mentioned in Hebews 12:1 are watching me. Those that have gone before but also those who are here now and need me to get it right. For my children and grandchildren I must make the right choices for I gain or lose authority by the decisions I make.

What Jesus said, 'man shall not live by bread alone', is right. It is not the satisfaction of my mere flesh that is important. Every word of God, must rule my life. It is the word of God that gives me principles to live by, it is the word of God that gives me power, it is the word of God that gives me authority.

As I live in the word of God, bathe in the word of God, drink the word of God, eat the word of God I am saved, delivered, blessed, made whole. The word of God is not the dry crust of Old Testament it is the fresh living breathing word of the New Testament. I cannot win eternal life by following the principles of the Old Testament alone, I must be born again to the New. Amen!

The Old Testament leads to the New, it's purpose was to make a way for the New and the New has come. Amen!
