Yield
"Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" Matthew 3:1
What does it mean to repent? To be going completely in a different direction and having a deep desire to change.
At 19 I was walking down the road to destruction and the Lord began to speak to my heart (I had friends praying for me) and then He came to me and spoke to me and lead me to the very person who would bring me through to salvation and take me to church.
Repentance for me, at that point was easy as I had longed for a relationship with my God forever.
Repentance is an ongoing daily affair. I continually must choose Christ and His ways because that is where life is. The opposite is a gradual death, doing things my way.
I know when I am challenged with repentance, it is usually when my flesh would rather go one way and deep down there is a knowing that life is in the opposite direction. I have to fight the natural man because it wants it's own way.
I have spent years cultivating my relationship with the Lord and learning what He wants, what He desires so that each time I face a decision I can make a right one, a life filled one, a Godly one.
This does not mean that I saintily (new word) float through life and am 'oh so good'. No chance! I still live in a body of flesh and I have to be aware of it's limitations. Only God is good!
However as I yield to Him I begin to change in the desire department and gradually turn around.
The word for today is 'yield!'
