Freedom in Christ

"therefore if the Son sets you free, you really will be free. John 8:36

Jesus said this verse while debating with the Jews. They believed they were free and He knew they were bound. Jesus in a previous verse said, "everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin." v 34

I look at my own life and know the sins that endeavour to put me in a cage. I therefore have to submit that area of my life to the Lord because I know in Him is freedom.

He alone is liberty and freedom. Over the years I have notice the words of my mouth and the resultant bondage they can produce and conversely the freedom they can bring.

David knew this principle when he penned the psalm, 'let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight O Lord.'

I have also noticed that it is important I do not give room to disease in my life by confessing something into being. For example if I am in pain in a particular area of my body my mind will create a disease and want to name it. 'oh I've got such and such'. I don't want to 'got' anything.

Have you heard people say, "my arthritis won't let me walk, won't let me bowl"?

Last night I watched John Bevere preach on line at the Sydney Presence Conference at Darling Harbour. He quoted many scriptures but one he started with was Philippians 1:29. For it has been given to you on Christ's behalf not only to believe in Him but also to suffer for Him, having the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I have.

This does not mean I name it and claim it. Stuff happens to all of us, but it is what we do with it that displays God's glory or the enemy's authority. When pain or difficulty comes we can deal with it according to scripture instead of our own human frailty. There is power in Christ and only in Christ. He said He came to 'set the captives free.'

We are only able to win the victory as we bathe our minds in scripture and allow it to permeate deep down into our beings.

Why did Jesus go to the cross unless it was to pay the price for all the results of sin? It is finished and as I allow that finished work to live in my life I give Him room to be God. Amen!
