Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1John 4:1
'Do not believe' is said for a reason. Yet do we heed this admonition? Do we allow the spirit of the moral presented by TV shows to be ours or do we guard our hearts? Do we know how to guard our hearts? Do we really understand why we should guard our hearts?
The only spirit that should influence us is the spirit of God, the spirit of truth. Do we know what that looks like? Do we know what it sounds like?
When I was in high school we learnt many science formulates by creating sayings. When I heard the saying I knew what it referred to. I learnt the sayings by repetition.
As a Christians I need to know biblical truth. How do I learn it? Studying it, repeating it, listening to others talk about it, sharing it with others.
If I do not study I fail. If I do not apply my Christianity I fail because when I am tested I do not know the answers.
If I know my bible, my God and friend, nothing or no one can steal me away, I am steadfast. Amen!
If I do not know how to recognize truth I am in danger of the false spirits and as John says, 'there are many'.
Do yourself a favour and get to know truth. Amen!
