Then God said, "let us make man in Our own image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, all the earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth."
So God created man in His own image;
He created him in the image of God;
He created them male and female. Genesis 1:26,27
In my 20s I had a revelation of what being made in His image could mean to me in particular. I had awoken to the creative and desired to work in it, having spent all my life to that point working in the cognitive. When I read this scripture faith entered my heart along with a desire to be creative. I realised I could do anything I put my mind to do as the God who created all things had made me like Him.
As I grow older I appreciate this division more and more. I have a cognitive side that does all the working of what the creative side discovers. I learned to paint and it allows me to go to the creative and discover new creations.
Whenever I can, I make time to explore the creative as I love it and it is where I really experience my God. I come alive when I create an idea, a formulae, a design, a story, a picture.
Now you may be different you may experience the Lord's pleasure when you work with numbers or even language and letters. He is present in all places.
You may not know this experience. May I encourage you to find that place where you know your God's smile on the you He made, for that special purpose.
If you do not know Him yet, invite Him in and then ask Him to show you your place with Him. You might think you can do it without Him and you could but you will never know the joy of His smile. He is good! So good! Amen!
