A Pillar of Salt?
Whoever tries to make his life secure will lose it and whoever loses his life will preserve it. Luke 17:33
When Lot and his wife were told to leave Sodom and Gomorrah and not look back, Lot's wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt.
Stuff cannot mean more than our lives. In our country we have nasty bush fires. Some people in the past have stayed at their home in an endeavour to save their homes but several perished in the fires. Theses fires have been something we had not seen in intensity.
Stuff cannot mean more than the lives of others. Turning blind eyes to those suffering while on our way to buy more useless stuff will not do. There are families who have struggling relatives and ignore them because their planned largerTtV purchase was more important will find a day when it is all a pile of ash.
People are more important than selfish indulgences. Every year we have loads if 'boat people' head for Australia. Should we ignore their plight or lend a hand? If I was on one of those boats fleeing persecution I would want to know someone was there to help. Refugees, genuine refugees are welcome!
Don't ignore those who suffer just because there are so many or because we are so busy. Reach out! Amen!
