And He told a parable: a man had agog tree that was planted in his vineyard. He came looking for fruit on it and found none. He told the vineyard worker, "listen, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it even waste the soil?"
But he replied to him, "sir, leave it this year also, until I dig around it and fertilise it. Perhaps it will bear fruit next year, but if not, you can cut it down." Luke 13:6-9
The fig tree represented Israel in scripture. Jesus had given it three years. In verse 23 Jesus was asked, " lord, are there few being saved?"
Jesus replied, "make every effort to enter by the narrow door, because I tell you, many will try to enter and won't be able once the homeowner gets up and shuts the door. " verse 34,35
The gospel Jesus gave was not a cushy number. Jesus demanded sacrifice and dedication and many were quite happy with their cushions in their cells.
If Jesus had this problem then we will also. The first person we must deal with is ourselves.
Wrong expectations cause offence and wrong teaching causes weak individuals to falter and not follow.
I am glad I stayed! I know Him so much better and He is good. As I understand life is not about stuff but about allowing Him into all my circumstances I am at peace.
By making life about getting stuff or relationships we can cruel ourselves. Eternity is forever and ever and ever. I want to be ready for Him and enjoy all He has for me.
If you have insisted that He must perform to your standard repent and make friends with Him. Yield to Him and allow Him to be Lord. Amen!
