Possessions

Then He told them, " watch out and be on your guard against all greed because your life is not in the abundance of possessions. Luke 12:15

Jesus had just been asked to settle a dispute between a young man and his brother over an inheritance. The rabbis were the ones who settled such disputes but Jesus refused and seeing greed at play spoke to it.

I see the need for more and the buying of unnecessary stuff in plague proportions. Cars don't go into garages because they are full of stuff.

I find that moving regularly can rid you of unwanted stuff. Our measure or stature in our community is not about stuff but standing before God.

What did Jesus do? He himself said He had nowhere to lay His head. His focus was on the Kingdom and where God wanted Him to be. As a Christian what should mine be? What is important?

As I focus on getting I am consumed with consumerism, not the Gospel. I must keep my eyes on Him, He will provide. Amen!
