Rich Men and Eternity

Then He told them a parable: "a rich mans land was very productive. He thought to himself, 'what should I do, since I don't have anywhere to store my crops? I will do this, he said. "I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones and store my grain and my goods there. Then I'll say to myself, "you have many goods stored up foray years. Take it easy, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself."
But God said to him, "you fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared- whose will they be?"
That's how it is with the one who stores up treasures for himself and is not rich towards God." Luke 12:16-21

This story ties in with the parable of Lazarus and the rich man who's gates he sat at begging for bread. (Luke 16:19)

Jesus did not criticism the rich man for being rich but because he was full of self-importance and ignored the heart of God and the why he had been created and for what purpose he had wealth.

Each of us have a purpose. If I am blessed it is so that I can be a blessing. It is not so that I can waste my wealth on indolent living.

I am greatly impressed as to how Bill Gates and Richard Branson give away their money to help the less fortunate, they are truly philanthropic. Yet my prayer for them is that they know the one who created them and not settle for self- righteousness. They both appear to be very nice men but being nice is not the door pass to eternity. Jesus said he was the way. He would complete them.

This is my prayer for you, dear reader! Even if you put together an item of furniture you follow the instructions. The bible is our instruction manual, read it. Start at the New Testament. Ok?
