"or what woman who has a valuable diamond ring (interpretation mine)and loses it in the house. She will get down on all fours, pull the furniture apart, empty the vacuum and clean the floor, she will have all the lights on. When she finds it she will Facebook all her girlfriends and arrange a coffee date to celebrate. I tell you in the same way the Lord gets excited and He throws a party for all in heaven to celebrate when someone comes to their senses and realises He is Lord after all. Luke 15:8-10.
Please do not consider me irreverent for the above I am giving a modern day example for the actual scripture in Luke.
This morning my brother handed me a very small diamante earring he found near his pool. He thought it was mine, it wasn't. He was very proud of the fact that he spied it, as it was very small.
I did lose a valuable earring many years ago. I was frantic and scoured the house, the car and even went back to the venue to where I wore it, to no avail. Had I have found it I would have celebrated.
I know we find it hard to believe that the Lord almighty would be so excited over a sinner finding their way home, but He is.
Remember the story of the prodigal son. The Father looked out for him day in day out and when he saw his son coming he picked up his robes and ran. What love would drive our God to be so passionate? We don't understand do we? We have moments of passion and see through a glass dimly but one day we will finally see it face to face!
I think we somehow know this because when we see a sinner come to repentance we are also smitten and our spirits rejoice.
