He began to say to His disciples first:" be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy." Like 12:1
What causes hypocrisy? Is it not caused by a fearful, insecure person endeavoring to control their world and those around them? You might say, "no! more like an arrogant self-righteous person!" But I would counter with, " appearances are deceptive, look deeper!"
There is freedom in facing the truth, in saying "I do not know the answer". Coming into the light requires us to be honest and lay down all pretense. Our flesh wants to control to 'feel' better but really the feeling is a sham because deep beneath the gloss is the emptiness, failure, lack of fulfillment.
Oh the joy in not running to 'fix it' mode but standing still and seeing the glory of God.
Right at the coal face of fear, hurt, shame, disappointment is the answer, the gold, the prize.
Embrace the truth and be free! Amen!
