Who is Lord?
Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1
I have heard, several times, that if a 'therefore' is in the scripture, you need to find out what it is there for.
In the case above, 'therefore' is tying in verses 11:33-36 the last of which says: for from Him, and through Him and to Him are all things.'
Therefore we need to present our bodies as living sacrifice in honour. What does this mean?
Jesus, the perfect sacrifice, presented His body for physical sacrifice and now that we are His brethren we must submit our bodies as 'spiritual sacrifice'. We don't need to be nailed to a tree but we need to die to the fleshly ways.
Is there any area where we refuse to give up our fleshly lusts? Be it coffee, chocolate, overeating, lustful thoughts, carnal appetites, excessive leisure, as in a belief I can sit and watch 6 hours TV and not spend 5 minutes with The Lord.
Many Christians hang onto unhealthy attitudes towards others, towards work, towards themselves. If I am Christ's I am different.
If I present my body as a living sacrifice then I am yielding all rights. Now there is a thought!
Am I living out the word of God in my life or some other voice. Who is my Lord? Amen!
