A Little Leaven

Their actions do not allow them to return to their God, for a spirit of promiscuity is among them, and they do not know The Lord. Hosea 5:4

Jess said: ' a little leaven leavens the whole lump.' He used the analogy of make bread and the use of yeast. Yeast when allowed to sit imparts its properties to all the flour in which it is placed.
He said this to show that entertaining sin, even if we think it small, infects our whole spirit and then we find ourselves lost.

If our enemy can get us to think about something, something destructive, then in time we are destroyed.

The apostle Paul tells us: 'whatever is good and clean and lovely, think on these things.' He knows that our mind is a fertile field that needs good input so that as we entertain good things, things that will benefit us and complete us, not things that will destroy us, we prosper.

From the above verse we see that there comes a time when we don't know how to return tithe Lord, we become completely snared. Israel had refused to give up its unfaithfulness, its promiscuity infected it wholly. How sad!

Don't toy with sin, don't entertain it or you will lose your eternal life. Amen!
