A New Way

If you died with the Messiah to the elemental forces of this world, why do you live as if you still belong to the world? Why do you submit to regulations: "don't handle, don't taste, don't touch"? All these regulations refer to what is destroyed by being used up; they are commands and doctrines of men. Although they have a reputation of wisdom by promoting ascetic practices, humility, and severe treatment of the body, they are not of any value in curbing self - indulgence. Colossians 2:20-23

The Colossians were being deceived into believing that a 'fuller' relationship with God could be obtained by severe treatment of the body via dietary regulations. All they were doing was giving themselves and the false teachers a reason to boast in their flesh, they were adding to salvation and gods were being fashioned.

Our enemy wants us to worship anything but our one, true, God. Self efforts to save ourselves merely cause us to fall into his deceitful hands.

Jesus said Himself: "He who the Son sets free is free indeed". John 8:36

He did not add anything other than "go into all the world and spread the good news of salvation, healing the sick, setting captives free." ( my interpretation)Mark 16:15. A new commandment I give to you: that you love one another just as I love you. John 13:34

He is our liberator from flesh, He is our self-control. If anything comes from Him then it will set us free not bind us in any way.

Allow Him to be GOD! Amen! Allow His strength to be your strength! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
