Choosing Leaders
They have installed kings, but not through Me, they have appointed leaders, but without My approval. They make their silver and gold into idols for themselves for their own destruction. Hosea 8:4
Israel had rejected The Lord wanting their first king. So that they could be like other nations. Their first king was Saul. God had warned His people that they would become the kings pawns but they did not listen. Their next King was David, whom God appointed and then Solomon. From then on there were a succession of kings, some good but a lot of bad, who led the people into idolatry and away from God.
In the New Testament we see Jesus spend the night in prayer before He chose His team. In the book of Acts we see the Apostles wait on the Lord for leaders and deacons.
Asking The Lord for His guidance is important, especially in the choice if leaders.
God knows the heart of a person, we see the sell.
The Lord wanted His people to involve Him but in they hardened hearts, they thought they knew better.
Keeping centered in God and allowing His life to flow through us keeps us safe. Spending time with Him learning His mind protects our decisions. Allowing Him to govern rather than irritated emotions is humbling but wise.
He alone is God, set Him free! Amen!
