Stubborn or Compliant?

For Israel is as obstinate as a stubborn cow.
Can The Lord now shepherd them like a lamb in an open meadow? Hosea 4:16

You may not have seen a dairyman endeavouring to herd his cows into the milking shed but I grew up in a small farming community and each morning my dad would take us with our billy can to the dairy to collect our milk.

We also discovered that the farmer had to tie back the back leg near where he would sit to milk the cow or she would kick him. Not very compliant.

In the above scripture God refers to His people 'like a stubborn cow'.

Lets look at the word 'stubborn'. What does it refer to?

The dictionary says: having or showing  dogged determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, especially in spite of being given good
arguments or reasons.

Do you know anyone like this? I do! Am I like this? I can be at times. God compares the cow to a sheep that will be shepherded. A big difference!

My goal is to not make it hard for my Lord to shepherd me but I know when attitudes refuse to budge I am in trouble.

What is the answer? Repentance. Amen!
