Reaping the Earth's Harvest
Then I looked, and there was a white cloud, and One like the Son of Man was seated on the cloud, with a gold crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand, another angel came out of the sanctuary, crying out in a loud voice to the One who was seated on the cloud, "use your sickle and reap, for the time to reap has come, since the harvest of the earth is ripe." So the One seated on the cloud swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.
Then another angel who also had a sharp sickle came from the altar, and he called with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, "use your sharp sickle and gather the cluster of grapes from the earth's vineyard, because the grapes have ripened." So the angel swung his sickle toward earth and gathered the grapes from earth's vineyard, and he threw them into the great wine press of God's wrath. Then the press was trampled outside the city, and blood flowed out of the press up to the horse's bridles for about 180 miles. Revelation 14:14-20
The One seated on the cloud is Christ returning in the second coming. He has come for His people as the time is right and they are ready.
Some find it hard to have an angel command Him to reap and therefore assume that it is another angel, like Christ. Yet Jesus said " no one knows the time only the Father." This could be like the Father has said to the Son, "it's time to go and I will give the call and when I call reap the harvest." Jesus was in place on the cloud, awaiting the word.
Then a second angel comes to reap the lost as that harvest is also ripe. As the blood of the wine press spreads about 180 miles, roughly the full length of Palestine. This seems to indicated that the final harvest will be cantered there, probably at Armageddon.
The extent of the wrath is horrifying when the depth of blood is up to a horse's bridle, approximately 4-5 feet. That is a lot of bodies. The stench would be nauseating. The sight would be beyond words. Not a good place to be. Being in the first group would be my choice.
