Trust in The Lord

The Rabshakeh stood and called out loudly in Hebrew. Then he spoke,"hear the word of the great king , the king of Assyria. This is what the king says: 'don't let Hezekiah deceive you; he can't deliver you from my hand. Don't let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in The Lord by saying: Certainly The Lord will deliver us! This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria." 2 Kings 18:28-30

This enemy is no different to any enemy we face as Christians. We are oppressed by a hateful foe who says he is in control and that God cannot save. If it was in the movies it would look like the battle for middle earth in The Lord of the Rings. Nasty spirits, hateful spirits come against us but God is in control.

Hezekiah sough there Lord about what his enemy was saying. He asked for divine guidance. God did not fail him and He will not fail you. Hezekiah sent for the prophet Isaiah. He sent the following message: " Today is a day of distress, rebuke, and disgrace, for children have come to the point of birth, but there is no strength to deliver them. Perhaps Yahweh your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke him for the words of Yahweh your God have heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the surviving remnant."

Isaiah replied; " tell your master this: 'The Lord says: "Don't be afraid because of the words you have heard, that the king of Assyria's attendant have blasphemed Me with. I am about to put a spirit in him, and he will hear a rumour and return to his own land where I will cause him to fall by the sword.'"

The enemy did not leave straight away but sent a letter to Hezekiah which he took up to the temple and laid out before The Lord. He acknowledged that the enemy was great but asked for deliverance. God gives Isaiah a message for Hezekiah in verses: 21-34. It is worthy read, especially if you are being. challenged by you enemy and he is heaping scorn upon you. You need to know our God is great and mighty to save. Amen!

That night the angel of The Lord went into the enemy's camp and struck down 185,000 with the sword. Hezekiah did not need to do anything but trust in The Lord. Amen!
