My Father's House
After three days, they found Him in the temple complex sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all those who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers. Luke 2:46,47
Jesus was 12. His parents had brought Him to Jerusalem for the festival but Jesus failed to return with them. When they finally found Him, after frantically searching for Him and had rebuked Him, He said, " didn't you know I had to be in My Father's house?"
Jesus knew the importance of being in His Father's house and He was the Messiah, what does that mean to me? I love being in church. Yesterday my church hosted the feeding of 950 runners in my home town. I was there in the thick of it but could not wait to go to church and worship last night.
Since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with my Father's house, and this was when I was searching for Him. I did not find Him as my personal saviour until I was 19.
The word of God fascinates me, I am hungry for it. I find myself there. I am taught there, I am reminded of who I am in Christ, of His love for me. I am taught how to live. I love it! Best of all, I find Him there!
I remember when I first started reading the bible I thought the apostle Paul was arrogant. Now I like him and his teaching. The word challenges us, moulds us. We need to hear it preached as well as this is how faith comes. We cannot do this in isolation, unless of course our circumstances prevent us from meeting together.
Learn to love the house of God and His word and you will live. Amen!
