The World Mourns Babylon's Fall

The kings of the earth who have committed sexual immorality and lived luxuriously with her will weep and mourn over her when they see the smoke of her burning. They will stand far off in fear of her torment, saying:
"Woe, woe, the great city,
Babylon, the mighty city!
For in a single hour your judgement has come."
The merchants of the earth will also weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their mechandise any longer- merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, and pearls; fine fabrics of linen, purple, silk, and scarlet; all kinds of fragrant wood products; objects of ivory; objects of expensive wood, brass, iron and marble; cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, and frankincense; wine, olive oil, fine wheat flour, and grain; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and slaves and human lives.
The fruit you craved has left you.
All your splendid and glamorous things have gone;
They will never find them again,
The merchants of these things, who became rich from her, will stand far off in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, saying:
Woe, woe, the great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet,
Adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls,
For in a single hour such fabulous wealth was destroyed.
And every shipmaster, seafarer, the sailors, and all who do business by sea, stood far off as they watched the smoke from her burning and kept crying out:" who is like the great city?" They threw dust on their heads and kept crying out, weeping, and mourning:
"Woe, woe, the great city, where all those who have ships on the sea became rich from her wealth,
For in a single hour she was destroyed."

Rejoice over her, heaven, and you saints, apostles, and prophets, because God has executed your judgement on her! Revelation 18:9-20

I remember when, in September 2001, New York was plunged into devastation in a single hour. How the rest of the world stood a far off and mourned. The crashing of the two jets into the Trade Towers did not destroy the city but it destroyed peace in the city, in fact in the country.

We remember what this destruction was like to us the the rest of the world. Then we remember what it was like to watch the GFC which began in that same city. Our world is still reeling from the aftermath of wrong decisions made out of greed and avarice. It seems we have forgotten all too quickly as the financial markets are again going too far in the offer of credit with limited proof of capacity to repay.

If these two instances affected the rest of the world then the fall of Babylon the Great will be even greater. The fall will be greatly mourned but the world will endeavour to move on, all too quickly.

As to what city the scripture refers to is yet to be seen. There is much speculation. Some already think it is New York but who knows what the end times will produce.

What we have to know is that God is a judge and He has restrained Himself because of the intercession of His Son, that none would perish. There is coming a day when God says: "enough! Judgement has come!" Amen!
