Doubting Grown-ups
But one of the Twelve, Thomas (called Twin), was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples kept telling him, " we have seen The Lord!"
But he said to them, "if I don't see the mark of the nails in His hands, put my finger into the marks of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe!" John 20:24,25
This is strong doubting by a fact man. However, Jesus turned up just for Thomas so that he would sort himself out and believe.
He was a 'but' man!
Are you one of these? What makes you believe? What evidence do you require? And does the evidence convince you? Possibly not. You see we all need a revelation of who Christ is to believe. I would like to repeat myself, you need a ReveLaTion! Revelation causes us to believe. This is a Holy Spirit thing!
When we are little children, generally we love to believe in mystery, miracles, mayhem. Fairy stories, dragons, giants, witches, goblins, orks. All of these are made to please.
We have a God who walks in the spirit realm, He is the hero who defeated the great dragon. Angels are the fairies, demons are the evil ones. All are real and need to be believed in.
Thomas had grown-ups disease, he failed to believe. I am sure there were very few children who doubted.
Keep the fire, the passion for a God of miracles, and you will not be disappointed. Amen!
