If You Love Me....

If you love me you will keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counsellor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of Truth. John 14:15,16,17

This is true of any relationship. If we love the person asking us to do something we will honour them by doing what they ask. Conversely, if we love ourselves and our own opinion more then we will not do as they ask.

It seems, from this text, that the Counsellor comes to the obedient. I know that I can easily send Him away by the things I do, say or give time to, especially if they dishonour Him.

The Holy Spirit is gentle and kind, holy and pure and does not live in darkness. I cannot expect Him to put up with me watching filthy movies, reading material that is disgusting and stay.

The Holy Spirit is the 'Spirit of Truth'. Lies and deceit do not live in the same space.

The presence of the Holy Spirit is more important that any pleasure. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
