Truth

I have told you these things to keep you from stumbling. They will ban you from the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service to God. They will do these things because they haven't known the Father or Me. John 16:1-3

Pastor Brian Houston posted a photo of our current PM in the forefront in NSW on Twitter. He is not only visiting the fire front but actively fighting the fire.

In our recent elections our PM had a Facebook page and I read some of the comments of the haters. They were disgusting. These same haters will be vilifying our PM's efforts to fight the fires, just because they are haters. They do not know truth about the PM and they don't want to know the truth. Admittedly some with have a change of heart but generally speaking haters only know how to hate.

Now let's bring this down close and personal. We all have attitudes, I do. I have little time for the Christians who sit and complain when all of heaven is theirs, they have the answers. Yet my attitude is not Christ's. He constantly reaches out, overlooking the offence. The Father gave His Son to haters, so that He might redeem them.

Scripture says that He did it so 'anyone who calls on His name might be saved.' 

Each of us has the Holy Spirit within, if we call ourselves a Christian. This Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. This same Spirit, if we allow Him, will lead us into all truth, not just our version of truth. May I, may we, embrace His truth today and not sit in our self-indulgent version. Amen!

I pray for our PM and all those who are fighting the fires, I ask the Lord's protection upon them. I pray for those who face loss because of the fires. I pray for God's mercy and grace. I pray for the haters, that they would receive grace and mercy and come to truth. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
