God Backs His Vision
For many days neither sun nor stars appeared, and the severe storm kept raging. Finally all hope that we would be saved was disappearing. Since many were going without food, Paul stood up among them and said, " You men should have followed my advice not to sail from Crete and sustain this damage and loss. Now I urge you take courage, because there will be no loss of your lives, but only of the ship. for this night an angel of the God I belong to and serve stood by me, and said, "Don't be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar, and look! God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you. Therefore, take courage, men, because I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. However, we should run aground on a certain island." Acts 27:20-26
Paul had warned not to set sail and the centurion believed the captain, who said they could, rather than Paul. This is understandable! Paul was not a ship's captain. However, here he was standing up amidst nearly 300 non-believers and professing that all would be safe even though the ship would be lost.
Again and again the fact that God keeps telling Paul he must stand before Caesar, there is tumult around him. How good is God to continue to encourage him.
In the walk of faith, God will be confirming a vision and assuring His companionship but the vision still gets tested by trials leading up to the fulfillment. Many take the trials of faith to be a sign to quit, that they are in error. This is wrong thinking. If the vision is a God-vision and not man made, then it will stand. God backs His word with His name.
Paul is seeing God back His vision to have Paul stand before Caesar. God's plans are way better than mans but often lead through choppy seas and untested waters. These are time to stay close and hang on to Him and guard our mouths. Our mouths are a source of creation and what we say, we get.
Happy sailing!
