Why Not the Tower of Babel?
At one time the whole earth had the same language and vocabulary. As the people migrated from the east, they found a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there. They said to each other, "Come, let us make oven-fired bricks." They used the bricks for stone, and asphalt for mortar. And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky. Let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise, we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth."
Then The Lord came down to look over the city and the tower that the men were building. The Lord said, "if they have begun to do this as one people all having the same language, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down there and confuse their language so that they will not understand one another's speech." So from there The Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth, and they stopped building the city, Genesis 11:1-8
Is God a spoil-sport? We should rather ask, "What was mans motivation?" Mankind was becoming proud and Independant again. They were invading God's domain and exalting themselves above the heavens.
Sounds like today! Every race on earth is exalting itself in some way, through building, military might, commerce and discoveries. Where is God in all this? Yes! Predominantly left out.
What does God want then? A man who will seek Him with all his heart. Passion, intensity, relationship!
What do we want, really? Relationship, passion, intensity directed toward us. Well now then! If we both want the same thing, then perhaps we should connect. Too simple? It works!
We want it but do not want to give it. Why not? Ah! It is all about me! Again? Yes!
I think I will buck the system and go for it, how about you? I have found God to be an awesome companion, no smell socks, no bad smells, no ridicule, no demeaning language. He is good! Amen!
