God Solutions

After Rachel gave birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, "Send me on my way so that I might return to my homeland. Give me my wives and children that I have worked for, and let me go. You know how hard I have worked for you."

But Alabama said to him, "If I have found favour in your sight, stay. I have learned by divination that The Lord has blessed me because of you". Then Laban said, "name your wages, and it will pay them,"

So Jacob siad to him, "You know what I have done for you and your herds. For you had very little before I came, but now your wealth has increased. The Lord has blessed you because of me. And now, when will I also do something for my own family?"

Laban asked, "What should I give you?" And Jacob said, "You needn't give me anything! If you do this one thing for me, I will continue to shepherd and keep your flock, let me go through all your sheep today and remove any speckled and spotted sheep, every dark coloured sheep among the lambs, and the spotted and speckled among the female goats. Such will be my wages.

"Good, Laban said. Let it be as you have said. Genesis 30:25-32; 34

Again Laban deceives Jacob, he agrees on the surface and then goes away and removes all those that were requested and hid them. But God saw and spoke to Jacob in a dream and showed him how to combat the deceit. The method was not scientific but was a God solution.

Jacob had a large family but no possessions and wanted to go home to claim his inheritance. However Laban was not willing to let him go. This time The Lord became involved and told Jacob to go. God also showed him how to increase his own herd.

God solutions are the best solutions, they always work. Amen!
