Not My Own Righteousness

"listen Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan to go and drive out nations greater an stronger than you, with large cities fortified to the heavens. The people are strong and tall, the descendants of the Anakim. You know about them and you have heard it said about them, 'who can stand up to the sons of Anakim?' But understand that today that The Lord your God will cross over before you as a consuming fire. He will devastate and subdue them before you. You will drive them out and destroy them swiftly, as The Lord has told you. When The Lord your God drives them out before you, do not say to yourself, ' The Lord brought me in to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.' Instead, The Lord will drive out tese nations before you because of their wickedness. You are not going to take possession of their lands because of your righteousness or your integrity.
Understand that The Lord your God is not giving you this good land because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people. Deuteronomy 9:1-6

We can so easily think that because we spend time with The Lord, discipline our lives and give that we are righteous, No!

I am righteous, only, because I have faith in the Son of God who gives me His righteousness. The things I do are out of love for Him, no other reason. There are no brownie points for good behaviour otherwise why did He die? Good behaviour must be the result of my relationship with Him and only because of that. It is He who justifies me and imputed righteousness into my life, only He! Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
