Rebellion

all the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron, and the whole community told them, "If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if we had died in the wilderness! Why is the Lord bringing us into this land to die by the sword? Our wives and little children will become plunder. Wouldn't it be better for us to go back to Egypt? So they said to one another, "Let's appoint a leader and go back to Egypt."Numbers 14:2-4

This was not a good day. All hell was breaking loose. The Israelites were ready to stone Moses, Aaron, Caleb and Joshua, Moses and the boys were on their faces in the dirt and God was angry and wanted to wipe all the rebellious of the face of the earth. Moses had to step in and remind God about His reputation in the neighbourhood, God does wipe out the 10 scouts who brought a bad report and the people are antsy and God decides none who were over 20 and rebelled will enter the promised land, they would die in the desert.

After a sleep the Israelites decide to go anyway and Moses pleads with them, reminding them that God is not with them and they will get wiped out, they go anyway and are routed.

OK! What can we learn from this? This life is not about you or me, this is about God's great power and ability to bring us through and provide. Our strength is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. It is not of ourselves. It is not up to us, He is on control. Amen!

If we allow God to lead then He must lead all the time and all the way. We cannot baulk at enemies that scare us spitless. We must stay focused and trust that he will bring us through! Amen!
