Works of Faith
He will repay each one according to his works: eternal life to those who by persistence in doing good seek glory and honour, and immortality; but wrath and indignation to those who are self-seeking and disobey the truth but are obeying unrighteousness; affliction and distress for every human being who does evil, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek; but glory, honour, and peace for everyone who does what is good, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. There is no favouritism with God. Romans 2:6-11
Does this passage confuse you? Do you feel like you are back under works, as you were before salvation?
I think passages like James 2:14-26, where James tackles the thinking that now I am saved, Jesus did it all, I don't have to do anything. James slams such false thinking with examples of Abraham and Rahab from the Old Testament. Two people who dd not have the law but acted in faith.
True faith is displayed in 'acts of righteousness,' it visits the sick, gives to the poor, loves the unlovely.
When we stand before Christ He will ask: what did you do with the ones I sent you? What will be our answer? Lord, when did we see you sick or in prison? And what does scripture say He will respond with: 'whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me either.' And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.' Matthew 25:31-48
We haif Christ dwelling in us. He wants to reach out through us just like He reached out while on earth, we are now His hands and feet.
This is serious stuff! Will you open your eyes and ears and allow Jesus to live through you to a lost and dying world?
