The Plot
When Daniel learned that the documents had been signed, he went into his house the windows in his upper room opened towards Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees, prayed, and have thanks to His God, just as he had done before. Then these men went as a group and found Daniel petitioning God, just as he had done before. So they approached the king and asked about his edict: "Didn't you sign an edict that for 30 days any man who petitions any god or man except you, the king, will be thrown into the lions den?"
The king answered, "As a law of the Medes and Persians, the order stands and is irrevocable."Daniel 6:10-12
Daniel was one gutsy guy! I wonder how I would go with this one? Daniel knew the evil being plotted but preferred to spend time with his deliverer than live in fear.
The king was also being trapped, not just Daniel. He did not appreciate this. These men were playing a dangerous game.
Jesus knew He was constantly being led to a trap but He knew He came to do the will of Him who sent Him. He knew why he was there. I believe Daniel knew why he was in Babylon. I need to know why I am right here and trust my God for His protection and not fear man. Amen!
