Mighty God

I selected 12 of the leading priests, along with Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and 10 of their brothers. I weighed out to them the silver, the gold, and the articles- the contribution for the house of our God that the king, his counsellors, his leaders, and all the Israelites who were present had offered. I weighed out to them 24 tonnes of silver, silver articles weighing 7,500 pounds, 7,500 pounds of gold, 20 gold bowls worth 1,000 gold coins, and two articles of gleaming bronze, as valuable as gold. Then I said to them, "You are holy to the Lord, and the articles are holy. The silver and gold are a free will offering to the lord a God of your father's. Guard them carefully until you weigh them out in the chambers of the Lord's house before the leading priests, Levites, and heads of the Israelite families in Jerusalem." So the priests and Levites took charge of the silver, the gold, and the articles that had been weighed out, to bring them to the house of God in Jerusalem. Ezra 8:24-30

Imagine carting all this treasure 900 miles. The weight would bog down the carts. It would be evident that the travellers were carrying treasure. Yet Ezra goes on to say that the Lord strengthened them, protected them and they made the journey uninhibited.

This God is still around. This God still wants to be vitally linked to us. This God is still a God of provision and protection. He is more, He is a God who wants relationship. Stepping out in faith as Ezra and the team did, invited Him to be God. Amen! He is good!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
