When First He Spoke

The word of the Lord that came to Hosea son of Beeri during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, Kings of Judah, and of Jeroboam son of Jehoash, king of Israel.
When the Lord first spoke to Hosea, He said, "Go and marry a promiscuous wife and have children of promiscuity, for the land is committing blatant acts of promiscuity abandoning the Lord."
So he went and married Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son. Hosea 1:1-3

How would you manage if, for the first time that God spoke to you He told you the type of person to marry was not going to be a faithful person?

In this modern day the younger generation have taken promiscuity to a new level. Sexual migration is quite common. It is even flaunted on Facebook. For a young man or woman who is not promiscuous this could be very troubling.

God chose Hosea to be His mouthpiece. He was faithful to his God and would prove faithful to his mate. He was about to suffer.

The Christian is God's mouthpiece. He does not call us to replicate Hosea's acts, we are to be in the world but not of the world. Yet we can be a voice to the world by merely saying "No!" And seeking our God first and foremost. This will attract criticism, ostricisation, loneliness, but the benefits are well worth it. Being known by the God of the universe and knowing Him intimately are prizes to be esteemed.

The Lord is looking for faithful hearts that belong to Him. What a reward awaits, eternity with the lover above all lovers. Amen!
