Is Love the Motivation?

In view of all this, we are making a binding agreement in writing on a sealed document containing the names of our leaders, Levites and priests.....
The rest of the people- join with the noble brothers and commit themselves with a sworn oath to follow the law of God given through God's servant Moses and to carefully obey all the commands, ordinances, and statutes to Yahweh our Lord. Nehemiah 9:38; 10:28,29

'In view of this,' refers the the whole of chapter nine where the people remember the journey with their God up to that day, recounting all their misdeeds as well as His grace.

They attempt to make things right by making a binding agreement to walk in God's ways, they have had a God encounter. They make binding oaths, thinking there is power in an oath, yet there is power in the One with whom the relationship is forming.

I know no amount of New Year's resolutions will occur by sheer force or will-power, they have to be built on relationship. Is love in the air? If I do choose to do something I prefer to be motivation and drawn by my Lord, otherwise I will fail. Love must be the glue, desire must be the force. My desire for my God drives me. Amen! And He does not disappoint. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
