Left-Overs
A son honours his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honour? And if I am a master, where is your fear of Me? Says Yahweh of Hosts to your priests, who despise My name."
Yet you ask: "How have we despised a your name?" By presenting defiled food on my altar."
You ask how have we defiled You?" When you say the Lord's table is contemptible. When you present a blind animal for sacrifice, is this not wrong? And when you present a lame or sick animal, is this not wrong? Bring it to your governor? Would he be pleased with you or show you favour?" Asks the Lord of Hosts. Malachi 1:6-8
Things had really slipped. Contempt for the Lord had arisen. An attitude of: sure we will make sacrifices but we will use it as a way of ridding ourselves of the worthless. You can't have our best, that is for us to trade.
Have you received contempt from others? I have. I have not been honoured and relegated left-overs by family. It hursts deeply that there is no respect. How does God feel when we refuse to give Him our hearts but give a few minutes, when we think of Him?
The screen is dominating hearts and lives. It may not be the TV now, but rather the iPad, iPhone, Facebook, a twitter etc. I am a user of these things and know the challenge it is to push back and not allow them to rule.
Let's turn back, spend time with real peace, a relationship with a real God. Let's fast our devices and give that time, rather, to relationship! Amen!
